Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program
As part of its mission as a Public Housing Authority (PHA) this agency devotes significant resources to the Section 8 program on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This voucher based program is designed to assist lower income families, disabled individuals, and the elderly to find well-maintained housing in a location of their choosing, at a price they can afford.
Most households pay 30% of their adjusted monthly income for Section 8 housing and agree to abide by rules and regulations in order to remain in compliance with the program and keep their rental assistance. The PHA pays directly to the landlord the remainder of the rent over the resident’s portion, subject to Fair Market Rate caps. All subsidized units must meet and maintain certain standard levels of housing quality and maintenance.
All housing programs are made available to persons without regard to race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin. Please let the Everett Housing Authority know in writing if you or anyone in your family is a person with disabilities that requires a specific, reasonable accommodation in order to fully utilize our housing programs and services.
