Madrona Square, a 105-unit iconic addition to the historic Delta Neighborhood, celebrated its grand opening on Wednesday, August 9th, with a focus on community and social responsibility.  This event marked not only the unveiling of an exquisite living space but also showcased Everett Housing Authority’s dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of homeless families, particularly those with children, and its ongoing commitment to the surrounding community.

“Today's grand opening is more than just the introduction of Madrona Square; it's a demonstration of our commitment to the surrounding community and our dedication to making a difference," stated Jason Morrow, Director of Development at EHA.  "We believe in building not just homes, but a supportive and caring environment for those who need it most.”

The grand opening event brought together local leaders, advocates, and residents, all united in their shared commitment to creating a brighter future for homeless families and those in need of housing.  The audience was moved by speeches from State Senator June Robinson, Everett City Mayor Cassie Franklin, and State Representative Mary Fosse, with a focus being on the transformative impact of community support.

The grand opening event shone a spotlight on EHA’s partnership with the Everett Public Schools (EPS) on aiding an estimated 200 McKinney-Vento students, which are homeless students.  The referral process is unique to this project, as potential tenants are referred directly to EHA by EPS.   Attendees also learned about the proposed “Park District;” a phased multi-use development of up to 1,500 mixed income units, including retail and civic spaces located just north of Madrona Square in EHA’s former Baker Heights site. The Park District is currently in an entitlement phase with the City of Everett.
